Chapter 7
Pulling her car over, Colleen stopped and looked around. She needed to go someplace to relax. She saw that she was nearby to the park, so she decided to go take a walk. Maybe a walk in the park was all she needed to get JT off her mind.
Taking slow, steady steps, Colleen walked herself around the lake. She watched the young couples, as they were so full in love. At that moment she imagined back when her a JT would sneak to the park, just to be together. She took a deep sigh and enjoyed the moment. She looked over across the park and saw a bench. She decided to go take a seat for awhile. Sooner she had realzed that the bench was a memory for her. That was the bench she and JT used to cuddle on. She sat there crossing her arms, for there was a bit chilly. She closed her eyes and sighed once again.
"Mind if I join you?" JT asked. Colleen had jumped, he had startled her.
"I don't think that's such a great idea." she answered back, while sitting stiff. JT decided to take a seat anyway. It was a free country after all, right?
"I think it's a good idea, Can I ask you a question?" he asked while slightly turning to face Colleen.
"Well you were prabably going to ask me anyway so, shoot." she said. She doesn't know why she was feeling so squirmy.
"Well, I was just wanting to know if you would do me the honor to hang out with me sometime. I am not looking for us to build a relationship, I just want to be with you. Hang out with you, see what you had been up to the last five years. We can do this as friends." JT blurted, he thought that he had just complicated things even more by saying all that. But he didn't, Colleen actually knew what he was implying.
"I would love to hang out with you, but just as friends. I wouldn't be able to handle anything more than that. And don't think that just because I am agreeing to this, that you can just take advantage of the situation. It Won't Work!" she demanded.
"I understand. I won't take any kind of advantage on you, I promise. I really just want to spend time with you. What do you say we go to the city carnival tomorrow." he was so ecstatic, she had agreed to spending time with him. To bad he lied to her about not taking advantage. He was going to try anything, to get her to be with him, but on a whole other level. That was a promise he wasn't going to break.
"Sure, you can pick me about about 7pm." she replied. This was going to be perfect, she thought. Now was her chance to be with JT, but it was going to take a lot of time and energyto get where she wanted them to be.
"Okay, I won't be a second late." he said with a huge grin on his face.
"You better not be, I really have to go. I promised dinner with my father." she said as she stood up from the bench.
"Yea, well I will see you tomorrow. Bye Colleen." he said compassionately.
"Bye, JT. I will see you tomorrow." she said sadly. She walked around the corner to her car. That's when she broke down in tears, she wanted to be with him right then and there. But tomorrow, she promised herself that she was going to tell him her feelings. It was the only way for both of them to be happy.
