*Butterflies* Chapter 74

@ GENOA CITY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
>> The Waiting Game

Sierra: JT, what was going on with you and Colleen up there? I can’t imagine anything serious being wrong with her why she fainted. But luckily you were there with her when it happened.
JT: I don’t know what happened to her.
Sierra: ((rubbing his back)) Come on JT, don’t blame yourself. Maybe it was something she ate and just had a bad reaction to it.
JT: I don’t know what I’m gonna do if anything happens to her.
Sierra: Why do you say it like that?
JT: She was fine. She was fine, and then the next minute she collapses in my arms… Holding her limb body… I just freaked out. I thought she was… ((sigh))
Sierra: Don’t do this to yourself. The best thing now is to pray that nothing serious is wrong with her.
JT: Do you think her parents won’t let me see her? They could blame me for causing her to faint cause we were in a heated argument.
Sierra: What about?
JT: Something stupid… like we always do. It all just happened really fast.
Sierra: Look, you’ve been here for over 3 hours now, it’s 11:30, why don’t you go home and get some rest.
JT: No. No. I can’t leave her here. I wanna be here when she wakes up. I wanna know she’s alright.
Sierra: Her parents are here. They can call you when something changes-
JT: No, Sierra. I can’t leave her. She’s all I got.
Sierra: …Okay. Alright. I’m gonna head on home. You will call me if anything happens?
JT: -Yeah, sure.
Sierra: Come here. ((((hug)))) …She’s gonna pull through this. Colleen’s a tough cookie. ((she gives him a reassuring smile))
JT: Thanks Sierra.
Sierra: I’ll see ya.
JT: Bye.
Sierra: ((she exits the waiting room))

((JT gets up and starts pacing around in the waiting room))

JT: Mr. Abbott, have you talked to any of the doctors?
John: JT. There’s not much they can tell us at this time. Colleen is on an IV drip so she get back some of her strength. They haven’t given us a specific diagnosis just yet. So there should be hopefully some result coming in a little while.
JT: Do you know, if it’s anything serious?
John: No. Not that I know of. Right now she’s resting comfortably so that should be a good sign.
JT: ((sigh)) Thank God…
John: Try to relax JT. Take a deep breath, and relax. I know it can’t be an easy thing to deal with on all of us, but just keep a positive frame of mind. Try not to think about the worse.
JT: …How do you do it?
John: Do what son?
JT: How can you be in such good spirits, when you’re granddaughter is hanging on for dear life?
John: When you get to be my age and you’ve gone through you’re fair share of ups and downs, only then you’ll be able to understand my reaction to these kinds of situations. The only thing I can tell you is to hold on to her and never let her go. - I’m assuming you still love Colleen.
JT: Yes sir, I do. I’ll do anything for her.
JT: From what I can account what happened between you and Colleen is that there was a big dispute. You said some words. She said some words. - Finally, it just blew up in both of your faces.
JT: Maybe she had food poisoning. I don’t know? Its just, I don’t like coming to hospitals all that much. So whenever I come here, I tend to get really nervous. Especially when it has to do with Colleen.
John: I understand. Maybe the crab cakes might have been a little under done. But we can’t worry about all that now; who we need to put our focus on is Colleen.
JT: Yes sir.
John: I have to head back home and take care a few important things… If you see Tracy, tell her I’ll call her when I get home.
JT: Yes sir, you got it. ((shakes his hand)) Thanks for the talk.
John: Your welcome. Oh and one other thing, before I forget. Don’t be late to your interview Monday morning 8 o’clock sharp. I’m counting on you to make a good impression.
JT: Don’t worry sir. I’ll be there.
John: ((he exits the waiting room))

((A few minutes later, an unfamiliar doctor enters the waiting room))

Dr. Blythe: Excuse me, are you JT?
JT: Yeah, who wants me?
Dr. Blythe: Hello, I’m Dr. Tim Blythe. I’m Colleen Carlton’s attending physician. ((he extends his hand))
JT: Oh. ((they shake hands)) It’s nice to meet you... One question.
Dr. Blythe: Shoot.
JT: Did you happen to see Colleen’s parents? It’s just I haven’t seen them since Colleen was taken to her room. I wanted to give them some time alone with her. So…
Dr. Blythe: Uh, yeah. I did see them and talked with them briefly about their daughter’s condition. You can go back to her room if you like when we’re done.
JT: I - I can go see her? Is she awake?
Dr. Blythe: Yes, she just woke up, and she was asking about you too if that helps.
JT: Thank you. Thank you for everything,
Dr. Blythe: It’s what I tell all families, “I’m just doing my job.”
JT: Well, you’re doing a great job.
Dr. Thank you.
JT: ((sigh)) So, how’s Colleen doing? Is she gonna be okay?
Dr. Blythe: First, lets sit down ((gesturing JT to take a seat)) and go over Colleen’s condition as of right now. When she came in her eyes were completely dilated which meant that she was going into shock while her glucose level was very low so we gave her a shot to bring that back up to a more normal level.
JT: Wow, she probably hadn’t eaten all day. Because when I was with her, I didn’t see her eat or drink anything,
Dr. Blythe: Which leads me to my next diagnosis, she also might have suffered a mild anxiety attack which can be lead by stress, high blood pressure or shortness of breath. All of which she had symptoms of. So I went ahead and put her on an IV drip to nourish her body. We do want to keep her over night in the short stay unit for more observations just to be on the safe side.
JT: Okay. Yeah, that would probably be the best thing. Just so there’s no more scares right?
Dr. Blythe: Right. But other than that there is no serious internal damage to worry about; the x-rays we took came back negative. What I suggest she do is she needs to keep her strength up, make sure she eats properly at least 3 meals a day cause she’s gonna need it. Right now she’ll need all the TLC she can get.
JT: So other than that she’s gonna be alright?
Dr. Blythe: Yes. For the next couple of hours she may seem a little weak but that will ware off in a couple of days. If there’s nothing else, I think that’s everything.
JT: Oh my God. ((smiling)) Thank you doctor. ((shakes his hand)) Thank you for everything.
Dr. Blythe: It’s my pleasure. If you want you can go back and see her. She’s just down the hall, the last door on your right. ((he exits the waiting room))
JT: I can’t wait to see her.

Do you think she'll like a bouqet of flowers or maybe I should stick with something oiginal. A teddy bear that says "I Love You". Wish me goodluck guys...

Jinx, thank you so much for these new chapters, you made my day. I really miss them and the crappy JT/Mac storyline doesn't cheer me up. Thanks and I really look forward to reading more. Take care.

One more thing, I just want to thank all the talented writers and talented people who make the wonderful music videos. Thank you for giving us something to look forward to and for keeping alive the JT&CC memories. wub.gif
