When Colleen finished her last class of the day, she changed out of her leotard and tights and into a denim mini-skirt and a tank top. Slipping her feet into flip flops, she made her way out of the women's locker room . On her way to the front door, her phone rang. She answered, "Hello?"

"Hey, honey! Matt's here-- you on your way home for dinner?" her dad asked expectantly.

"Yeah, dad-- I am just leaving. I need to make one stop on the way, and then I will be home. I want to get Abby some of that perfume that she always wanted to wear of mine. They got a new shipment of it in at Fenmore's, and I am going to pick her up a bottle."

"Okay-- hurry home soon."

"Bye, Dad," she said, folding up her phone and stuffing it into her purse. Just then, she walked by the bar and could not believe her eyes. JT sat at a table there, with at least 7 beer mugs in front of him, all of them empty. He stared into space with an angry look on his face. Colleen knew she should walk right on by him, but her heart would not let her. She still felt responsible for this mess JT found himself in, and that is what led her to his table.

Walking up behind him, she took the handles of his wheelchair, and without saying a word, steered him toward the elevator. "What floor?!" she asked angrily.

"What the...? What do you think you're doing, Colleen? You think I need a babysitter?" JT tried to maneuver his chair out from under her hands, but she held fast.

"Evidently you do, JT. You lasted all those weeks in detox without a drink or drugs, and you are gonna throw it all away in one afternoon?"

"Hey, listen-- what else do I have to do? I can't work out, at least not like normal people, I can't shoot hoops, I can't dance...."

Colleen couldn't help but smile, "Well, you never could dance...."

JT felt a smile creeping up onto his lips, and he fought it as he growled, "Third floor, alright? Just get me to the floor, and I will make it to my own room."

They said nothing as they boarded the elevator, nothing as they traveled up to his floor. When the doors opened, JT said, "Your good deed is done for the day-- you can go and play kissy face with Pretty Boy now-- I am sure he is waiting for you."

"How dare you! You don't even know Matt. He has been nothing but good to me, and he traveled all this way to be with me. Yes, he is waiting for me, but I decided, in spite of my better judgment, to do something nice for your drunk rear end. So, I did it, and now I am out of here. Good night, JT."

Something inside of him felt like it was ripping as he thought of her walking away from him yet again. Instead, he turned to face her, and grabbed her hand, "Wait, Colleen. Don't go yet."

Colleen looked at him, searching his eyes for that man she still so desperately loved. This time, she found him, but it was as though he was wading in the deepest waters of his life, and only a glimmer of his heart was peeking through to show her the way.

Without saying another word, JT unlocked his door and led Colleen in. It was shockingly clean, a twin bed, chest of drawers, nightstand, a desk-- two windows facing a lovely view of the park. Not bad, Colleen thought, cleaner than his room at the loft always was. She walked over to the nightstand and her eyes landed on the small, wallet sized picture lying there, unframed, but worn around the edges from many nights of wishing. When she looked at it, her own face stared back at her, the picture JT had taken of her the night he took her to the Valentines Day Dance. With questions in her eyes, she turned to look at him. He had been watching her with curiosity, wanting her to notice that he kept her picture next to his bed, where he dreamed of her every night.

She nervously said, "I have to go. Don't go back downstairs and drink more, and I mean it." She started to walk toward the door, and JT knew he had to do something. He grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her down onto his lap. Colleen gasped in surprise as she found herself staring into his eyes.

"Let me go, JT. You are drunk--- this is not you!"

He held fast to her wrist, just enough to keep from hurting her. "You're not going anywhere, Blue Eyes. This is where you belong. Even though I am only half a man, you still belong here with me-- even though I am nowhere near the man you deserve, can't you feel it? Can't you feel that our connection is still there? I'm higher on being this close to you than from the beers I drank downstairs. You smell so good," he sighed, leaning his face into her neck, nustling it there, and inhaling the fresh, clean smell of her shampoo. He kissed her neck lightly, feeling her shiver underneath the brush of his lips. Jackpot, he thought. She does still want me.

Colleen caught herself wishing that he would not stop with her neck. She imagined him kissing her lips, letting his hands roam down over the swells of her breasts, around her waist, between her legs.... she immediately tried to wriggle free when this thought took over. Yet, he still had her.

He stared into her eyes, neither saying a word. Stalemate.... finally, JT put his hands on her shoulders, sliding the straps of her tank top down. He leaned his head forward and kissed her shoulders, and the soft skin right above her breasts. He watched as she threw her head back on instinct, and when she brought it back down, he met her with his lips. His lips claimed hers with years of pent up desire, sucking, nibbling, tasting, all of her sweetness. Her tongue met his eagerly, denial forgotten.

JT's hands slid down and rested on the bareness of her inner thighs. He rubbed circles on the soft skin there, sending chills up her spine. He moved his fingers up underneath, searching, searching. As soon as his fingers touched the bareness of her freshly shaven center, she could feel him get hard underneath her hip and she felt herself grow hotter and hotter. She gasped his name into his mouth as they continued to kiss and he wanted nothing more than to make her come like this.

Suddenly, Colleen broke free and pulled up the straps of her top. "I have to go. I shouldn't even be here." Without giving JT a chance to speak, she left the room, slamming the door behind her.

JT felt a huge void in the room when she left, but smiled, all the same. She was still his, and now he had proof.
